Commonly used in the tint industry for three purposes:
- Marking film prior to installation of windows with unusual shapes (arches, trapezoids etc.) which must be approximately cut to shape prior to the final lay up
- Circling a contaminant (hair or fibre) before pulling back the film to remove it
- Marking film edges to check for glass movement on side roll-up windows during the trimming process
